I miss my girl a lot! It’s been almost 2 months since we said goodbye to our sweet pup. Today, I decided to memorialize her. I still need to sand and finish the ornament. I’m going to have to search for photos of our other furry family members from years past.

This was so fun to make! We went to a house warming party yesterday - friends just bought their first house together and are getting married next year. I wanted to make them something personal from a trip that we all took to Italy in 2023. I took some creative liberties with a photo I took of them ironically recreating a wall relief at this baroque villa we toured at Lake Como. It’s been a gray, snowy couple of days post election Tuesday here in CO which matches my mood. I panicked a little and applied for a junior production artist job that required a portfolio. This meant I had to dig through my hard drive and I found all of the work that I did for a #makeartthatsells class that I did in 2015. I was pretty impressed with my output and effort. Most of the work was a combo of analog and digital artwork. While I haven’t felt ambitious or creative, I am reminded of what it is that I want to do. I want to illustrate and create. Teaching is incredibly creative, but not in a way where I had energy left over at the end of the day to create my own work. I need to develop better habits and practice - it’s not called an art practice for nothing! #artistsoninstagram #artpractice #formerartteacher #illustrationartists
